Who is Angela Burdett-Coutts?
Spending her wealth on charity, In 1877, Burdett-Coutts founded the Turkish Compassionate Found to protect women and children who had suffered from the Turkish/Russian War.

Who is Talat Miras?
Representing Turkey, on July 25 1951, he was elected as one of the two co-chairman to the Conference on the Status of Refugees and Stateless People which is the last form of Convention on the Status of Refugees, a fundamental convention of the modern refugee law has been discussed, written and accepted.

Who can apply:
- People and/or institutions that come into prominence with their works on Asylum seekers and refugees in Turkey.
- People and/or institutions that support asylum seekers and refugees in Turkey.
- People and/or institutions that work on priority issues such as access to food, health, and education of asylum seekers and refugees
- People, institutions, and charitable institutions that help in asylum seekers’ and refugees’ access to food, health, and education.
- Non-governmental organizations that are supportive in these fields.
- Those who produce researches, articles, and written work about asylum seekers and refugees in Turkey.
- Those who contribute to the development of Turkey’s refugee law and refugee practice.
People and/or institutions that apply for Angela Burdett-Coutts Award
Those who serve, support and come into prominence in the fields above-mentioned;
- Foreigners who live in Turkey and are in the status of international protection or other statuses. (i.e., Conditional Refugees, people who are under Secondary Protection, people who are under Temporary Protection, and people under Humanitarian Residence)
- Foreigners who legally reside in Turkey through working permits, student status, or marriage.
- Institutions which has been founded by refugees or foreigners operating for the purposes above-mentioned
People and/or institutions who apply for Talat Miras Award
Those who serve, support and come into prominence in the fields above-mentioned;
- Citizens of the Turkish Republic
- Institutions and non-governmental organizations founded by citizens of the Turkish Republic
Awards
A certificate regarding their works on asylum seekers and refugees and $2,000 will be given. Those who receive the award will be introduced to the Turkish government and international organizations through IGAM and will be announced to the public by media.
How to Apply
People and/or institutions that fit the requirements above can either nominate themselves or can be nominated by others.
Personnel of İGAM, personnel of UN institutions, and those who serve as a part of their job (i.e., personnel of General Directorate of Migration Management) cannot be nominated for the awards.
Needed for application
Name-surname of the person and/or institution, full address, information of the person and/or institution, an annotation of one page which explains their reason for applying for the award.
Privacy
People and institutions which are nominated will be kept confidential and shared only with the jury.
Jury
The jury will consist of people or institutions that are experienced, have academic history, and worked in civil society. Jury members will be announced with the public once their selection is over.
