1.41 Euro allocation from the EU to support Syrians

According to Sputnik, European Commission has published an announcement towards the Facility for Refugees in Turkey (FRIT), which is a financial aid program to support the Syrians in Turkey. As the statement puts forward, in this fund designated for aiding the Syrian refugees in Turkey, 1.41 billion euros will be allocated for being invested in the fields of socio-economic assistance and provincial infrastructure.
Alongside this account is drawing attention to the fact that an allocation of 5.6 billion Euro has been actualized to this fund, which was founded in 2016 with a total capacity of 6 billion Euro, there is also indicated that agreements were signed, and 2.5 billion reimbursements have been completed to the projects within the scope of funds.

17 irregular migrants died from an accident in Van

Greece wants to accelerate the repatriation process of refugees to Turkey

According to AA Agency, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, whose New Democracy Party (NDP) had come to power alone, is planning to speed up the repatriation of refugees to Turkey by fully implementing the EU-Turkey refugee deal. While it is stated that the total number of refugees in the country is over 70000, repatriated refugees have reached an approximate number of 2000 since the EU-Turkey deal, which has stepped to its two- and half-year stance.
The EU-Turkey deal had envisaged that the refugees reaching to Greek islands would be subjected to repatriation to Turkey in case of their non-admitted asylum applications. In return, the EU pledged to provide financial aid to the refugees in Turkey and receive Syrian refugees from legal channels. Within this framework, the EU, which started to fund annually one and half billion euros to Turkey, failed to satisfy Turkey.
Immigrants and Refugees Summer School is opened by WHO

According to AA Agency, the ‘’Immigrants and Refugees Summer School’’, which will last four days, was opened in Çeşme by the World Health Organization (WHO) for the first time in Turkey.
Santino Severoni, the director of the WHO Migration Health Programme, highlighted that this summer school has been organized for the third time and added ‘’We have chosen Turkey as WHO. Because we wanted to observe the experience of Turkey and we thought to benefit from it. Turkey is hosting the most populous number of refugees. It has awarded camps, and we wish to utilize from these experiences.’’

Syrian youth films the "Journey to Hope’’

According to AA Agency, eleven Syrians ageing between 17 and 25, who have gathered around under the ‘’We are Filming in Our Neighborhood Project’’ led by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Cultural and Art Head of Department, produced a movie about the sea journey of irregular migrants.
This movie, which was shot by the Syrian youngsters who settled down in Izmir after fleeing from the civil war in their home country and which aimed to attract notice on refugees’ hurdles and their dreams, will meet with the audience in July 27th.

Erdoğan: We will deport the Syrians committing the crime

According to the Turkey News authored by Yücel Kayaoğlu, while the local election results were being evaluated in Central Decision and Executive Board (MKYK), several MPs have mentioned that there exists a nationwide reaction, especially towards the Syrians, and there is thus a need to develop new policies in this issue.
Thereupon, Erdoğan put a comment that ‘’We had to open our doors for Syrians. We did not have the chance to ignore it. We hosted them. It could have happened to us. In that situation, who would aid and host us? However, we will introduce new steps regarding this issue. We will encourage them to return to their countries. We will definitely deport the ones being involved in criminal actions. In addition, we envisage that an additional fee will be imposed on Syrians in return for the health service they will receive.’’
